Movie Maker & Premiere Pro

Movie Maker - Windows Movie Maker is a video creating/editing software, included in Microsoft Windows software. It contains features such as effects, transitions, titles/credits, audio track, timeline narration, and Auto Movie. With the latest version of windows movie maker new effects and transitions can be made and existing ones can be modified using XML code. Windows Movie Maker is also a basic audio track editing program. It can apply basic effects to audio tracks such as fade in or fade out. The audio tracks can then be exported in the form of a sound file instead of a video file. Windows Movie Maker is a very simple editing program to use. It is also very clear on how to use it.

A harder program to use is..

Adobe Premiere Pro -

Adobe Premiere Pro is a professional, real-time, timeline based video editing software application. It is part of the Adobe Creative Suite, a suite of graphic design, video editing, and web development applications developed by Adobe Systems, though it can also be purchased separately. Premiere Pro supports many video editing cards and plug-ins for accelerated processing, additional file format support, and video/audio effects. premiere Pro is a more difficult program to use at it isn't so self explanatory. It has more complicated techniques but can do some really awesome things.

Advertising Images

Here are some really good advertisments!

These advertisments are done my LaChapelle studios: http://www.lachapellestudio.com/advertising/

He often does colourful images. His images have a lot of personality and character. He uses techniques such as 'Celebrity Testimonial', 'Association principle' and the 'Bandwagon Appeal'. If you visit his site majority of his advertisements are done for or by celebrities. If not there are a lot of glamorous models. For example if you look at the first picture. Pamela Anderson is naked against a man this is trying to associate the add with males. Trying to get their attention to the add. It is also makes use of her celebrity status as an appeal. The second add is very effective because you are immediately drawn to her lips. This looks incredibly real and slightly makes you cringe because it looks so life like. This add was done for a company called declare yourself so the add is very straight forward with what it's trying to imply. The third add is for loreal, a well known make up company.

The following images focus on jolting your emotions. They are images of abuse, anti-smocking and neglect.

If you look at the girl with bruises on her back you can see that the bruises form a picture of a face. This face looks like the face of scream. This could resemble the feelings she is feeling that could be suppressed. This add makes use of the technique 'emotional appeal'. When a viewer see's and advertisement that resembles an emotional appeal it connects the person to the advertisement. It makes them sympathise with the situation that they see. Emotional appeal can take many different forms; Guilt, Sympathetic, Anger, Sadness

This add uses Humor to attract the viewer. This is a good advertising technique because the viewer can join in with the add. Another common advertising technique is the repetition technique shown in the add below.

As you can see in this add the word stop is used repeatably to attract the viewers attention. All advertising techniques can be used in a wide range of different ways but all can be extremely effective such as the coco- cola ads which make young people think that because the people in the ads are having such a good time that people who drink coke can have a time like that also. A lot of advertisements also have subliminal messages.

Advertising

When it comes to advertising there are many different angles one can take. It is important as an advertiser to remember that effective advertisements are successful because they:
• Attract attention
• Arouse interest
• Create desire
• Cause action

Common techniques used when advertising are;
• The Bandwagon Appeal - This is the popularity affect. People want to do it because everybody else is doing it.

• Celebrity Testimonial - This techniques uses celebrities to appeal to people. Thinking that if a celebrity wants it/does it then we should to.

• The Association Principle - This is where the advertiser associates the advertisement with something appealing e.g wealth, success, love or family.

• The Emotional Appeal- This is where the advertiser tries to triger the viewers emotions, using the advertisment to connect to the viewer.

• Repetition-The use of repetition is to make sure the viewer see's the logo or the products name regularly in hope that the viewer does not forget.

• Use of Humour- This makes the add interesting for the viewer. By inserting humour the viewer connects and is more interested in the ad.

My Computer - Dream Machine

To create my perfect computer I have researched what I would want for my computer. This required me to look up things ranging from the keyboard to RAM chip. I had to do this because there are that many computer products out there that I needed to make sure I was getting the best for my moneys worth, I reccomend this to anyone who is looking to create their own dream machine. Heres what I researched and chose for the motherboard and CPU.

MOTHERBOARD: S5000PSLSASR Server Board COST:$726.00

CPU: XEON E5540/2.53GHz/1066FSB/8MBCACHE/5.86GTs /LGA1366 COST:$943.00

Binary Code

Today in class we learnt the binary code. This was interesting because although it may look confusing it can be easy to learn once you get the hang of it.
When a computer stores data and instructions, they are processed using Binary code. This is a code that is made up of 0's and 1's. They are recorded as pulses of electric circuits.
1= Electric Pulse
0= No electric Pulse

A binary string of eight digits, for example, can represent any of 256 possible values, and can correspond to a variety of different symbols, letters or instructions. If the circuit is carrying an electric pulse to give a signal its a 1 if not then its a 0. This is the American Standard Code for Information Interchange.

The headings are;
256 128 64 32 16 8 4 2 1

If i were to work out the code for the capital letter F which = 70 i would do it like this;

256 128 64 32 16 8 4 2 1

0 0 1 0 0 0 1 1 0

This is because 64 + 4 + 2 = 70 therefore the code is 001000110

A table for the ASCII table can be found at http://www.asciitable.com/

Lifting the Lid DVD

Whiles watching the lifting the lid DVD, i recongnised that a computer is much like a city. Here are some of the things i learnt.

-It contains busses which transfer information.

-The computer sends messages using a binorary code which is made up of 1's and 0's.

-CPU stands for computer proccessing unit

-RAM stands for Random Access memory

-ROM stands for Read-only memory

-There are output and input devices. Input devices include;
  • Mouse
  • Keyboard
Output devices include;
  • Computer Screen
